Bryan graduated from Bowie High School in Arlington in 1978. He served in the U.S. Army for three years as an MP (Military Police). He received his bachelor of science in Criminal Justice in 1985 from the University of Texas, Arlington.
In 1987 he began working with the Internal Revenue Service as a Field Revenue Officer. He was promoted to a Supervisory Revenue Officer in 2009 and ultimately retired in January of 2019, when he started working for MMWA.
